UnleashingYolo.org is the website for Unleashing the Possibilities, Inc. (UTP), a non-profit corporation created to help fund and build a new animal services shelter here in Yolo County. The current animal services shelter is over 40 years old and can no longer sustain modern animal sheltering standards. UTP’s ambitious project will build a new 32,000+ square foot state-of-the-art animal receiving and sheltering facility. This multi-million dollar effort will bring animal services in Yolo County into the 21st century.
The new facility will include the following features:
- Necessary lifesaving programs and services
- Appropriate animal housing facilities
- Disease resistant materials
- Training and education
- Professional partnerships with other animal services programs.
- Welcoming design
Website Features
The UnleashingYolo.org website uses clean lines and a variety of colors to provide the website with a contemporary look. Bold earth-tones help frame the body text and connect the various page components together. The use of whitespace offsets the bold colors and provides an overall tone of openness. The strong purple-tone is used throughout the site and serves to draw attention to the donation call-to-action.
Images are used throughout the site to help tie to the emotional aspect of caring for animals. The UnleashingYolo.org homepage hero image of a dog leaping though mid-air conveys a sense of freedom and ties in with the name of the organization and the name of the website. The images on the Our Need page provide a gritty look at the current animal services facility and framing the need for a new, modern facility. The image on the Become a Sponsor page highlights the apprehension and nervousness that many unloved animals feel, encouraging visitors to help and donate to a new animal services facility.
