Facebook to Simplify Privacy Controls – NYTimes.com. This is good news for Facebook users. As Facebook grew and additional features added, I found the security features to be unmanageable. Showing people how to use Facebook as part of their communications plan became even more difficult.
For the typical user, the changing of the default security policy to a more restrictive setting will be a big plus. There are many people out there that do not understand the security settings and unknowingly share all of their information with everyone. The proposed changes will better protect those people who want to connect with friends and share information with only those people without getting bogged down in a myriad of security settings. Having all of your information protected and making the decision on what to share as the default setting is much better than the reverse.
Facebook is definitely making the right choice in revamping security settings. It will be interesting to see how events unfold.
